Stoptober 2016, Make this your year!

stoptober1

It’s that time of year again. You might be thinking, oh boy already? Or maybe you are encouraged to make a healthy lifestyle change. It’s Stoptober and that mean it’s time to put that cigarette out for good. Think maybe you are just a social smoker? Here are some ways to determine if you struggle with a nicotine addiction.

If there has been less than a day between your last cigarette and you having these symptoms of withdrawal you most likely have a nicotine addiction. Your disposition is irritable and angry, restless, depressed. You might feel some physical sensations of illness such as indications related to a mild case of the flu. One of the most clear cut symptoms is your craving for a cigarette and gain weight if you refrain.

One way to tell how severe your nicotine addiction is by the length of time you can without taking a few puffs. So think for a moment. When is your first cigarette of the day? Is it within five minutes of waking up for the day, your addiction is rather strong. However, if you have your first cigarette within the first thirty minutes of the day, your addiction is moderate. Taking your first puff of nicotine within sixty minutes or less of just waking up, your addiction is not as great. Another thing to consider is how many cigarettes you are smoking.

If you smoke more than seven cigarettes per day, smoke even when you are ill, and go outside to smoke regardless of treacherous the weather is, than you struggle with a nicotine addiction.

You might think, well what is the big deal?  Maybe you enjoy smoking. It something that provides you a stress release. Some of might even say you might have to hurt someone if you do not get your cigarettes. Now clearly there is problem. Cigarettes are not only blatantly horrible for your own health, but also for the health of others around you. Not to mention that they are extremely expensive and can suck the life out of your savings account. Overall the idea of breaking yourself of this habit is one that has many benefits in store for you.

Perhaps every year you participate in Stoptober, but you just haven’t been able to shake this habit. Well here is something new that you can try. Ever hear of hypnotherapy? It is a safe and effective method to help with a variety of mental and physical ailments like insomnia, anxiety, and weight loss. Hypnotherapy is also a great way to kick this addiction to the curb.

Hypnotherapy works by digging deeper to the root of your addiction. They work with you to understand why you smoke to help you effectively cope. If you quit smoking without addressing where the addiction is coming from, it is like putting a band aid on a cut that needs stiches. It works temporarily, but not long term. Make this Stoptober 2016 your year and consult a hypnotherapist today!

What is the Governments advice? The Government in the UK has issued public health advice stating that everyone should consider taking Vitamin D supplements in Autumn and Winter. The dosage recommended is 10 micrograms (400iu) of Vitamin D per day. There is concern that is may not be achievable through diet and sunlight alone and people should therefore get their Vitamin D intake from supplements.   Can’t I get this from my diet or from the sun?   Limited amounts of Vitamin D are found in foods such as oily fish, eggs and fortified...

New Year Resolutions – how are they going?

Now that the festive season is over you are left face-to-face with your New Year’s resolutions. How will you make them work this year? How will you make sure that they won’t fade away this year as they have done in previous years? Do you want to make 2017 your best year yet? Well you can. The truth is that most of us hypnotise ourselves unknowingly into failing instead of succeeding. You need to learn how to think differently. Hypnotherapy helps to reverse this subconscious pattern. Emotional Freedom Technique

What is the emotional freedom technique? The emotional freedom technique, or EFT, is the psychological acupressure technique I routinely use in my practice and most highly recommend to optimise your emotional health. Although it is often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and healing – no matter how devoted you are to the proper diet and lifestyle, you will not achieve your body’s ideal healing and preventative power if emotional barriers stand in your way. The cause of all negative...

Goal Setting

It is said that only 3% of adults have clear, written, specific, measurable, time-bounded goals, and by every statistic, they accomplish ten times as much as people with no goals at all. Why is it then that most people have no goals? You have two choices in life: You can either work on your own goals, or you can work for someone else, and work on achieving their goals. When you learn the art of goal setting, you take complete control of your life and jump to the front of the queue in your potential for great achievement. Over the years I’ve...
